Purpose of Global Xtend - To connect Keystone friends with communities beyond the United States for the purpose of experiencing, sharing, and living out Christ's love.
We believe that participation in Global Xtend will help Keystone friends learn, grow and take Next Steps in their Journey with Christ
1. What can you tell me about our partner, Sociedad Lucas?
Location: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Projects include:
- Medical care
- Feeding Program
- Home for the homeless
- Community health
- Community development
- Evangelism
- Toys for the children
- Emergency relief
2. How do I learn more about what Global Xtend and Sociedad Lucas does?
- Contact one of the members on the Global Xtend Team (see contact list, next page)
- There will be a series of informational meetings at the beginning of the planning for each trip
- We can have some information sent to you about what we are doing and how you can be involved (see contact list to request info)
3. How do I get connected to possibly go on a trip?
- Contact with one of the members on the Global Xtend Team
- You can attend one of the informational meetings which will be held during the initial planning for each trip
4. How might I get connected without going on a trip?
- Contact one of the members on the Global Xtend Team
- You can become involved numerous ways
- Praying for Keystone's involvement as well as Sociedad Lucas
- We can have some information sent to you about what we are doing and how you can be involved (see contact list to request info)
- Sponsoring and/or getting involved in specific projects as they are announced - either trip specific or general (This is developing)
- Financial support to Keystone for Global Xtend
5. How do these trips get paid for and/or financially supported?
a. Each member of the team will be responsible for raising his/her cost for the trip. Specific fundraising will be done on a trip by trip basis
6. What are the requirements for someone to go on a trip?
- Attend the pre-trip meetings for information and training
- Have a passport
- Raise the needed funds
- Meet minimum age requirements for trip
- Participation in an informational interview process to ensure success and fit
- Other guidelines and procedures as developed
7. Is the Dominican Republic safe?
- It is safe. We have and will take every precaution to ensure the safety of the team.
- We work hand in hand with Sociedad Lucas to ensure every place we go (day or night) is safe
8. How much does it cost to go on a trip?
- Approximately $1000 - $1300 plus project costs. This includes all costs other than personal expenses and the cost of supplies needed for the various projects
9. How long are the trips?
- They can be anywhere from 5-14 days depending on the trip and the mission of the trip
10. What will you be doing on these trips?
- Each trip will be independent of the others but very related. Each trip will have its own goals and missions. Some of the things we will be doing could be:
- Building a house
- Helping in the medical clinic
- Helping with a reading program or other school activities
- Serving breakfast to the kids as part of the nutritional program
- Teaching about Christ
- Any other activity that fills a need of Sociedad Lucas
11. How often and when will you be taking these trips?
- We are hoping to take three (3) trips per year. One in the Winter months, one during Spring break, and one in early Summer.
