Baptism is... - Baptism

God wants to love, empower and free His kids. Baptism exists for “kids” like you who have experienced God’s love and would like to celebrate with the symbol that Christ himself took part in. He encourages any new followers to be baptized with water to publicly and personally display the clean, new start our belief in Christ brings. Keystone holds at 2-3 baptism events each year, a summer event outside and at least one Sunday event.

Have you asked Christ into your life? Do you believe He died for you? If you answered yes but haven’t experienced baptism, please consider it now! Take a personal run through the baptism information below, and contact Joann Edwards 957-2244 with questions.

Symbolically it is an expression of a spiritual decision to follow Christ. Personally, it is a statement of submission to Christ, willingness to live God’s way and identification with the family of God. Experientially, baptism is a celebration of coming up out of a death-like place of immersion and into the life filled feeling of breathing again. Anyone who is publicly baptized is expressing these three qualities: They are openly confessing the need for God to forgive their sins, To live as God wants them to, And to be a part of God’s family.

Read Romans 6:3-11 - Baptism

Romans 6:3-11 (New Believers)
"Or have you forgotten that when we became Christians and were baptized to become one with Christ Jesus, we died with him? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised as he was. Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ, we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we also share his new life."

Romans 6:3-11 (The Message)
"That’s what baptism into the life of Jesus means. When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country. Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the Cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life – no longer at sin’s beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of the death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did."

Matthew: 28:19 (New Believers)
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

Matthew 28:19 (The Message)
"Go out and train everyone that you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."

Why do we read the Bible? For information? Inspiration? Or maybe just because it's the "right" thing to do... Well, we think that God wants us to think of the Bible like we think of food. That's right as food. Something we need to stay strong, alive and healthy... And like a good steak or cherry pie, to enjoy. So sit down at the table, and Eat This Book!

God wants to help us all use our words and conversations to bring good things into the lives of others and ourselves and to rid our speech of words that do harm.

Can you think of one person who has not seriously damaged a relationship or made their own life more difficult because of something they said that they shouldn't have? Is there anyone you know who never needed to "zip it" in certain situations?

This series will be all about encouraging and challenging everyone to take Ephesians 4:29 to heart: being a person who, with God's help, only speaks words that build others up and speak positively to their needs.

Please join us, and hey - this is one rumor you should spread around! Invite a friend!

The Mix (grades 6-8) - Students & Children

The Mix is an awesome chance for middle school students to hang out and have an opportunity to ask questions as well as discuss the topic being covered in the service on Sunday. We want to equip students and parents with the tools to have spiritual conversations on the same topics as they leave their church experience for the morning. The Mix happens during both services on Sundays, so take your pick.

Keystone is also a place where we believe students belong. Our services are designed in such a way that students can engage, our gathering space is a place for students to connect, and our events and programs are a place for students to create shared experiences. We also realize that students are busy, and we want to be a part of their busy lives; so look for us at school events, at the mall or a local restaurant visiting a student at work, or in your basement playing video games.
