faq Common questions and answers about Keystone...

Why doesn’t this place look like a church?
We reach out to people who are seeking God and those who are also distrustful of “church”  – that often includes a traditional church building. We intentionally designed an environment that promotes community… yet allows folks to engage at their “comfort” level.

Is church a bad word?
For some people it can be. Keystone reaches out to people who have been hurt or turned off by church, but want to try “God” again.

How do I join Keystone?
We do not have membership at Keystone. You “join” by engaging in community and taking spiritual steps.

What is the leadership structure at Keystone?
The heartbeat of leadership is our volunteers who lead a wide variety of ministry teams and groups. Paid staff members support the volunteers and the volunteer board clarifies purpose and establishes accountability.

How is Keystone funded?
Keystone receives financial support from people impacted by our mission and ministries. We are a 501c3 designated charity, donations are tax deductible.

What is available for my teenage kids?
Rush (9-12 grade) and Overflo (6-8 grade) student groups meet throughout the year on weeknights at our Spaulding Campus. Students also serve on a variety of teams at Keystone and in our communities.

Where do my kids go on Sunday morning?
Treasureland is the place for kids (infants – 5th grade.) Stop by the children’s info desk, we’ll get you name tags, info and introduce your kids to their leaders and friends.

Where can I go to get my other questions answered?
Stop at the info table and talk to a host or fill out a connect card and let us know how we can help. A member of our follow-up team will contact you. Periodically, we offer Introductions, an informal (usually over lunch) discussion with staff and Keystone friends for everyone interested in hearing more about Keystone and learning about opportunities to connect with others and become involved.

Why multiple campus/service times and locations? Why not just build a bigger building at one location?
Keystone leadership determined through much prayer and discussion, that for us, the best way to help reach more people with the message of Christ’s love was to do so in smaller, multiple locations with varying service times… getting into neighborhoods and meeting people where they work, live and play. We’re maximizing our impact (reaching more people) and at the same time, making wise and good use of the resources we have.

What exactly is duplicated at each location and what is live/different?
We use many of the same supplies/materials, programs and video, etc. at all locations. Adult groups are encouraged to form around the Big Idea (message series) and/or follow any common interest the group members might share and meet throughout the week at a variety of locations (on and off campus). The weekend message is recorded for viewing at Eastside, and seen live at our Spaulding campus.
